A MURDER DINNER FOR YOUR COMPANY
The Murder Dinner is an interactive, social exercise for adults while
dining. Eight people sit at the dinner table and together they unravel
a murder mystery to discover which of them is the culprit! Any number
of people can participate - as long as they sit at tables of eight. There
are no real bodies or victims - and the guests don't have to be actors
or actresses. Each one merely needs to be able to share information he/she
has been given.
- Economical - Besides being competitively priced,
these functions have always shown considerable saving on the bar bill.
Your guests are entertained for three hours and the consumption of liquor
is usually a lot less than many other forms of entertainment. Most of your
guests will only drink the wine provided at the table (and possibly a liqueur
after dinner). For large functions this tendency represents a considerable
- Memorable - With the ever increasing demand
by corporate companies (and smaller vendors) to entertain their clients,
the demands to attend cocktail functions, launches and parties has increased.
A few weeks down the line many guests do not remember one function amidst
the many. Our experience has shown that the MURDER DINNER
is very different and highly memorable - guests have remembered (even the
fine details) for as long as two and three years!
- Wide Scale - The application of the MURDER
DINNER is open. Very formal dinners have been held (in dinner jackets
and evening gowns) at grand venues with sumptuous cuisine. At the other
end of the scale, some events have been extremely casual (jeans and takkies)
for a young audience. Some clients have chosen to take the theme and request
that their guests dress in costume! Full fancy dress with elaborate decor
to match has resulted in great hilarity.
- Gender Imbalances - When you are confronted
with entertaining clients and/or staff without their partners (particularly
at conferences and symposiums), it is very difficult to find a form of
entertainment that will succeed. Social functions are usually less successful
in such cases. The MURDER DINNER copes well with gender
imbalances - and equally well with a wide range of age groups!
- Ice Breaker - It is not easy to get people
talking to each other socially - particularly when the history of their
contact is limited to the business environment. They often have very little
to say to each other. This is also true of people who are strangers to
each other. The MURDER DINNER provides the topic of
conversation - every guest is required to contribute to the conversation
and no-one is left out. Even introverted and "quiet" people must
join in - and it is not done in a "public" or embarrassing way.
- Team Spirit - While each dinner guest must
solve the murder mystery on his/her own, it becomes very obvious that they
need the continual co-operation of the others at the table (despite the
fact that they are competitors)! This "help-me-to-beat-you" scenario
leads to some interesting alliances. Surprisingly, the winners are often
those you would least expect it from - and the "King-pins" often
spend a long time explaining their failure (or analysing the facts to see
how they could have gone wrong!).
HUMAN MURDERS has been presenting these functions
since 1987! Many prestigious clients have hosted a MURDER
DINNER over and over again - and the feed-back we have had has always
been exceptionally positive! The material we use has been created exclusively
for our use (with the South African consumer in mind) and is not available
from other entertainment presenters. The available scenarios have all proven
popular - and they offer a wide range of menu possibilities. The physical
quality of the material given to guests is excellent - and our functions
are always presented in an appropriate and professional manner.
